The Howard line, although alpha to this study, is less developed than many of its allied lines with which it intermarried. At present, its earliest known American is found in the form of David P Howard , encountered as an adult and in the 1820-1840 censuses of Powhatan County Virginia.
His ascendancy is felt very close to discovered and the suspected birth family for this ancestor are given their own dedicated pages.
Until secure, however, gateway to this Virginia family, whose only progeny migrated to Texas in 1850 producing many Howards of that state, and one grandson Howard who migrated north to New York City in  the early part of the 20th century.
At present this family opens with David P Howard, and his son, David Patterson Howard.
