Obit of the Gettysburg Times for Henrietta L Slentz Meals (John's Daughter) indicates she was (daughter of Mr and Mrs John Slentz "of this place" and " the last of 11 children" showing Mr and Mrs John Slentz resided in Gettysburg and had 11 offspring. The obit gives no info on John's wife's maiden name or the other children of that marriage. This info is from M B Frazee, husband to Betty Reinecke Swope [grandaughter of H L Slentz Meals, who transcribed the info which she dictated to him. Daughter Johanna Margaretís obit read: ì1 of 7 children of John and Maria Slentz, Grandfather John Troxell, Contemporary of James Gettys, died 8 Aug 1910 age 80 years 3 months 27 days.î5 This one of 7 disputes her sister Henriettaís obit that states there were 11 children. Obit of the Gettysburg Times for Henrietta L Slentz Meals (John's Daughter)

of 8 at the Historical Society in Adams County from notations of
other descendants.
Possible Child Under Research:
There is a joseph slentz 34 and a shoemaker in Conewago adams in 1850
census. Unsure if related. Married with children. Wife appears as
Sarah. Children william, jacob , Louisa. Groves living with this
group in census: Louisa 52 and Jacob 60, John and Nancy 20 and 17.
Are the Groves representative of this Joseph Slentz wife's family?

ìMore stuff that may interest you or peak your curiosity. The
1880 census for Washington, DC for the household of Thaddeus Slentz includes
Ella Meals, listed as a single white female, 21, born in PA and working
at the Gov't P. O. Which means the printing office as Thaddeus was
a printer as was his son, my gggrandfather, Charles Edward Slentz.
Others in the household included Thaddeus' brother Jacob Slentz, another
printer, 64 years of age. There was a 22 year difference between
Thaddeus and Jacob. Others listed were daughters Lilly Slentz, Ella
Slentz and Annie Slentz. Henry was listed as the 9 year old son.î
This entry seems to dispute that the jacob mentioned matches the Jacob
to which Larry is referring in the post below and following this
pedigree:
3. Phillip Melon Slentz II. Born on 14 Oct 1750 in Hanover, York, Pennsylvania.
Phillip Melon died in York, Pennsylvania on 17 Jan 1796, he was 45.
Phillip Melon married Marilis Elizabeth, in York, Pennsylvania.
4. Frederic Jacob Slentz. Born in 1758 in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Frederic
Jacob died in West Twp, Columbiana Co., Ohio on 21 Jul 1840, he was 82.

In a will settlement of Jacob SLENTZ of Columbiana Co., Ohio in 1840
a DUNWOODY is mentioned as an heir in PA. Jacob had 24 children and we
are missing 3 so one could be a dau. who married
a Dunwoody. ANY HELP HERE ?
You may not have time to do lookups, but my family has a DUNWOODY puzzle.
In a nut shell:
In an 1840 suit filed in columbiana Co., O. by a son John, petions
all of his fathers legal descendants in a court case. The deceased was
a Jacob SLENTZ. Those in question were listed as follows; (ALL DUNWOODYs)
Sarah B.,Caroline, Hugh AT Wm. N. G. DUNWOODY...of Adams Co., PA. We do
not know how or where they fit in at ! Jacob SLENTZ was formally from adams
Co., PA and lived near Two Taverns in the area of the old St. MARKS church,
I believe it is south
of Gettysberg. Any help or leads appreciated.
