aaa The Wilson Family in America Gateway Page Our Wilson Family is part of the
Howard & Allied Family Lines
forming [with the Swope& Allied Family
Lines ] the genealogical bases of the Within the Vines
Genealogical Study. The first known of our direct line was Col William
Wilson, a succesful merchant of Hampton, Va, and member House of Burgesses.
His daughter's tomb describes him as of Eliz City Virginia, and does not
mention him as of England. It is known that he had a brother named James
[described below] , but the father and mother for these gentleman is not
established.
Our WILSON line then is ours only with certainty from 1646 [when William Wilson was born-assumed by this writer to be Virginia] to 1741 and the death of his daughter Mary Wilson Roscow Cary Blair in Va. Mary Wilson's three husbands all hold historical interest. Of genealogical interest are both her son William ROSCOW who continues our line, and her marriage to Miles CARY, son of our direct CARY forebears, who married her when a new widow, and so was stepfather to our young, direct ROSCOW. This is a Virginia Family, and so is found within the Chapter Virginia and our Virginians, part of Vol I: Our American Immigrants within the Two Volume Within the Vines Study. The Genealogical Study starts with Ancestor WILSON, father to William and his brother James. This family may one day be found assuredly among England and our Englishman, encompassed in Volume II; Our Europeans. To Ancestor WILSON, father
of William and James., and the Wilson family study.
