Mother: Anna Margaretha**Possibly Mueller (~1710-~1785)

Children:
Adam (1760-1832)

Peter (1773-1857)
Barbara [Maria Barbara] (1776-1854)
Leonard (1779-1823)

Historical Context: York in 1777

The following is entirely from Jack HOKE4:
μ Served with Braddock, and was with him at his defeat and surrender. In 1780 was Private 2nd Class, in Capt. Reinhart Botts Company, 3rd. Battalion, Manchester Militia (PA, 6th Ser., Vol.2, P499). Was at Trenton at the Hessian defeat.
Listed in Manchester Twp., York Co., PA in 1790 Census.
Migrated to Kentucky in November 1795.
Kentucky Census 1820:
Andrew Hoke, Jacob Hoke (son), Adam Hoke (son), Peter Hoke (son)
Jefferson Co. Tax Lists:-
May 5, 1796 - 400 Acres on Chenoweth Run, 3 W. Males over 21, 1 Horse, 4 Cattle.
Apr.28, 1797 - 400 Acres on Beargrass, 3 W. Males over 21, 3 Horses.
July 18, 1799 - 400 Acres, 3 W. Males over 21, 1 over 16, 4 Horses.

Jan.2,1798 - granted a Licence to operate a Tavern in his home, George Rudy security (JCCOMB 5-96).

Andrew Hoke wrote a will Sept. 23, 1799, proved Jan. 7, 1800 in Jefferson Co., Kentucky.
In this he named his Wife Barbara; his son Jacob - half of home Farm; son Peter - other half of home Farm; son Leonard - his Still; dau. Elizabeth wife of John Pottorf; dau. Barbara wife of Jacob Myers; dau. Clara wife of John Miller of Baltimore.
Executors: sons Adam, Peter & Jacob (JCWB 1-91).

Administration of the Estate of Barbara Hoke was granted Mar.10, 1817 to Jacob Hoke.

In his Will Andrew Hoke added a codicil 9-23-1799 stating Clara (Hoke) Miller "to be paid to her after the death of her said husband.  John Miller has already received an equivalent with testators ... But if Clara should die before her husband then "money is to be divided between other children, not to be paid to John Miller".

Question: did Clara die soon after? See the following.

8-14-1809 adm. on estate of Jacob Myer deceased is granted to Barbara Myer widow and Jacob Hoke. Bond by Adam Hoke, Peter Hoke, John Funk.

10-1-1809 Betsy Myers, orphan of Jacob Myers deceased made choice of Leonard Hoke as guardian. John Miller and Jacob Hoke his security. Leonard Hoke was appointed guardian of Polly Myers, Catharine Myers, John Myers, Sarah Myers, Louisa Myers orphans of Jacob Myers. Jacob Hoke and John Miller securities.

Michael Myers, son of Jost Myers, died 1814. John Miller married his widow, Mrs. Christina Myers 11 Sep 1815. Also in papers of Michael Myers estate is a note or bill given to estate from a Jacob Miller.

So, there are all of these people tied together. Either we have two John Millers or Clara died between 1799 and 1815 and John remarried. Also, Sarah says all of those Myers's came from Maryland so far as she could tell. That would explain the connection to "John Miller of Maryland".

In addition, I said I did not know where the name Beam came in. I was wrong. Yost Myers, father of above Michael had two children who married Beams. Jacob who died 1820 married Barbara Beam; Mary married Jacob Beam.

If you can help in any way to sort out who this John Miller is or if there were two which I doubt, I surely would appreciate it. Every little tidbit helps. Beamous Miller was born 1806.

Thank you. Hazelμ
