Narrative on Michael Bentz including his  Baptismal Record, Census Entries:
Michael Bense's birth and baptism is found within the records of Quickel's Church [the church founded and placed on land donated by his maternal grandfather Michael QUICKEL] in Conewago Twp, York County, Penna, where his parents are clear, but no sponsors are given. He was 28 years old in Ap 13 1818.when he married Anna Quickel , by record of Christ Lutheran of York, York County 11  the charter for which church  had been signed by his grandfather Johannes Bentz  in York, Pa. September 1733. ìMichael  of York Boroughî [York Co, Penna]  was the administrator  of father Peter BENTZ's  estate, his father having died in 1823, where his brother John is mentioned also as being of Hellam Twp. By 1830 a growing family in the home of Michael Bentz  in the South Ward of York Borough is evident in the  1830 census  where only Michael is mentioned by name. By  the 1850 Census for York Borough, South Ward  his family members still living with him are named and he is shown a merchant. Children of Michael BENTZ and Anna QUICKEL Bentz are mentioned in the Keller Bible, the information of which was communicated to D M Swope by Amy Swope Wing, and cited to a "Mrs Keller of York" then holding that bible having  viewed by Amy [1893-1980].  Baptismal records of the children,  when found, are located in Christ Lutheran where Michael and Anna married. He is mentioned in theAdministrative Bond related to his fatherís estate: 2H  17  My 10, 1823. Estate of Peter Bentz of Conewago Township. Michael of York Borough & John Bentz of Hellam Township, administrators, sons of decedent.  Tenet in $2000. Widow renounced. Inventory &  Vendue List filed Ag 20 1823. [from   Evidences of the Bentz-Pentz Families in York County [PA] Before the Year 1850 By The Historical Society of York County: Henry James Young, A.B., Researcher (1935)9]
Michael was buried Prospect Hill, where is also found his widow Anna,[ who outlived him by more than two decades] ,  and his tombstone is transcribed  "Michael Bentz d. 2 Jan 1858" 9

1.3 Michael Henry BENTZ37,2

Birth: 22 May 182338, (Penna  According To 1850 Census39)
Death: 14 Dec 1909 39, 40
Burial: Prospect Hill Cemetery, York Co., Penna (SECTION G)40,41
Occupation: Cabinet Maker in 1850
Found  in his father's census of 1850, as Michael 28 and Cabinet Maker, York Borough, South Ward, Fed Census.
His wives appear in confusion (about the three wives ascribed to him) :
The birth date for Michael at Prospect Hill corresponds to the birth year as provided in the Keller Bible [which did not include a death date] , and so I have assumed this info correct and relevant to this entry. His parents are likewise buried here.  Prospect Hill Tombstone inscriptions show full birth and death dates and the presence of wife Louisa C. RIEKER beside him , With a Louisa C BENTZ, also found there.  The Hamme Record  indicates Michael had three wives [see relevant text from same] , and names the first wife as Louisa C JONES, who died, according to that record in 1907, and who bore Michael a son, and the reocrd staties she is likewise buried at Prospect Hill, though where is not mentioned. Hamme does not account for what happened to this wife who lived when he married his  second wife at that source, given as Louisa C RIEKER who died 1873 at which time Michael married third to Amand McCHESNEY according to Hamme.  Other researchers34  of the line seem to show one wife [Louisa C JONES] but offer no dates for that marriage.
I have found record of only one marriage for him with certainty , and that to Louisa C REIKER, this marriage took place 20 Nov 1862  BY REV. A. LOCHMAN. There is found a marriage of Michael H Bentz to an Amanda JONES [not Louisa] in Baltimore, Sept 17 1846.
According to tombstone transcripts of Propect Hill Cemetery, Michael lies with wife Louisa C RIEKER 1839-1875 and there is also a Louisa C BENTZ thought to be perhaps also his wife at that source. Some researchers34 puts forth Louisa C JONES as Michael's wife and present no others, but offer no date for this marriage.
