Captain. Landed Philadelphia, September 4th 1728. See Ship's list

took the Oath of Allegiance on the same date as arrival 16Became

"Frederick's brother, Hans (Johann) George and his wife Julianna Illeg
arrived at Philadelphia on the ship 'Hope', August 28, 1733. Hans George
settled and remained in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. He died 1746".28
Resided:
Lancaster County on the Pequa Creek, Manheim Township, then
moved to York County's Manheim Township, three miles
west of now Hanover on the York Road , [Digges Choice Region- see
Digges
Choice] and finally, Hanover the town, York [now Adams County]
Penna, laid out as the Mason Dixon Survey was underway . The survey
would finally decide the the pertinence of Hanover [and Littlestown, Adams
County] to Pennsylvania and not Maryland. Shortly after arrival went
to Lancaster County, the Pequa Creek.31where
it is presumed his first wife died and is buried. " On September 13, 1743,
he obtained a land warrant from the proprietaries of Pennsylvania
for 175 acres of land in Manheim Township, Lancaster Co.,Penn. Upon this
tract he took his family, cleared and cultivated the land, built a ahouse
and prospered to such an extent that only two years later he obtained grants
for 140 acres additional, located in Conestoga and Manheim aTownships
of the same county" 2which was "along the Conestoga
Creek. A patent was issued November 30, 1745. He sold the land in 1753
to Adam Simon Kuhn and William Bausman of Lancaster.....After selling his
land in Lancaster County, Frederick went to York County, ..west of the
Susquehanna River". 29 "Tradition
states"31 he remained in Lancaster
County until 17542 . On April 28, 17612,
he purchased a warrant of Conrad Low afor
220 aacres of land29,
2
in Manheim Township, York Co., Penn2.which
land remained in the family for 140 years.29
"It is now owned by the Mareheim family. The land is located near Hanover
along route 116.About the year 1770, Frederick purchased a house and lot
in the village of Hanover. Here it was that he spent the last few years
of his life, all the children having married and left them. "29

Birth: Unknown. There is no documentary evidence of her birth. Found
sometimes born ca 1715 in York County Penna; "traditionally stated to
be from Stuttgart"31,
[about 1715 York Co., PA.18] [ Germany1],
[Penna 1715 is a long stretch unless perhaps she was part of the Mennonite
or Huegenot settlers early found in the Conowago settlement, but this pertained
, and still pertains to Lancaster, not York County]
-
Death: Unknown. sources vary, giving [between 17 Nov 1789
& 30 Apr 17901]
[1809 York Co., PA.18 ] [April 179030]
"Magdalena remained in the house in Hanover, however, it was shared with
her son Leonard and his wife Elizabeth until her death " 30
-
Notes: Patricia Healey writes : " It is thought that [Magdalena]
was considerably younger than Frederick. The recording of the birth of
a daughter, Maria Magdalena born March 25, 1757
would indicate this. Frederick was 64 years of age when this child was
born. Nothing more is known of Maria Magdalena, it is presumed she died
young. The parents of Magdalena Becker Eichelberger are not known.
It is possible she is the Magdalena Becker listed on the passenger list
of the "Charming Nancy" that arrived in Philadelphia October 8, 1737."

landed in Philadelphia, PA, September 4, 1728, and was one of thirty Palatines
who brought families on the ship Albany which sailed from Rotterdam June
22, 1728. It is quite possible that these two were one and the same man,
and that two-years error was made in the Bible.) (A George Eichelberger

County, Bio [link to full text] on A W Eichelberger includes him.
ìThe children by the second marriage of Philip Frederick Eichelberger
were Adam, Leonard, Jacob (grandfather of our subject) and Lewis. Adam,
the eldest, was a captain of a company of Associators of York County during
the Revolution, and was also active in collecting money and supplies for
the army. He was married to Magdalina Bechtel. Their children were Frederick,
Michael, Samuel, Adam. Joseph, Susanna, Salome and Magdalina. He obtained
possession of the homestead in 1766, which then contained 220 acres, including
the mill place, which at that time was situated in Manheim but is now in
Heidelberg Township, about three miles east of Hanover on the York road.
The mill, which is in close proximity to the Hanover & York Railroad.
is now owned by George Jacobs. In addition to the occupation of farmer,
Adam was also a tavern-keeper. He was a prominent and influential citizen,
and died in 1787, aged forty-eight years and seven months. The home place
has been kept in the family up to the present time, and is now occupied
by Charles Eichelberger, a great-grandson. ì2

between 1735 - 1738 York Co., Manheim Twp., PA. 9 EIchelberger pages name
her as dtr of 2nd wife Maria Magdalena Becker, provides a birth date, 15
Jan 1743 Lancaster Pa 51 She currently has dual ascendancy, with preference
given to mother Becker, as Eichelberger site is more secure with her birthdate.
-
She is shown in the bio for A W Eichelberger in historical sketches of
York County, and named as among the first four of her fatherís children,
shown as being born in Germany, and corresponding as a dtr then of
first wife, if among the first four. However, it appears there were
other girls in the family, also given the ìsaintís nameî Barbara (common
practise among early German protestant immigrants and first generations
here) in Germany. It would appear this Anna Maria Barbara Eichelberger
was born after her familyís arrival in 1728 despite the entry from the
historical sketches which reads ìThe children by his first wife were
Martin, Frederick, Anna Margeret (married to Vincent Keefer), Barbara (married
to Andrew Hoke) and Elizabeth (married to Jacob Smyser). His first four
children, as above stated, were born in Germany. These children, after
marriage, located in and around York.î20 See her two sisters narratives.
-
Administration of the Estate of Barbara Hoke was granted Mar.10,
1817 to Jacob Hoke.9 ìLater correspondence contained a copy of letters
on the family written by Edward Hoke, great, great grandson of Johann Jacob,
descended through Jacob's son, Andrew. He states, "John Jacob Hoke emigrated
from Manheim, Germany about the year 1727 [sic, known to be 1728]. He was
Pastor of the German Reformed Church of Lancaster City, Pennsylvania in
the year 1736." (sorry, link lost)
