Yost presents confusion for the detail minded initiate to Swope research as he appears as two seperate men, one born 1678-1735, another born 1656-1727. The First had 5 known progeny; The second is credited with 11. Three children cross reference to both identifications. The reason for this dual identity is because of the two different family studies used for Swope research, one predating the other by nearly 100 years.
Yost SWOPE as presented by G E Swope was of uncertain parentage and different birth and death dates, had no known identified siblings, and with wife Anna Katharina Surname unknown had The Five Children mentioned as found in birth records held by descendants, and in which reference to the family bible then [1895] in family possesion is made.
Morse and McLachlan in "The Swope Book of Remembrance" 139 [Self Published 1972] present Yost as son and brother, and as husband to Anna Catharina WOLFHARDT. They further greatly expand the number of his children , some of whom were first identified by G E Swope in 1898. To accomodate their identification of him, Morse and McLachlin changed his birth and death dates as found on Yost's [reinternment] tombstone .
Due to the bulk of this line, Only son Johannes' descendancy continues here beyond several generations. This page is dedicated to the identification of Yost as given by Morse and McLachlan. It includes other sources for spouses and children when available, sources that, due to the repetitive nature of such an effort, are not included at the page dedicated to Yost Swope as identified by G E Swope in 1898.

for on October 2,1727 a letter was addressed to John Georg Schwab in the
Conestoga Valley by Rev. Weiss, the leader of the expeedition from the
Palatinate to Pennsylvania. He attended the wedding of his brother, Johannes
(John) to his second wife, Catharina Elisabeth Graeff in Lancaster County
in 1742.

He attended the wedding of his brother, Johannes (John) to his second wife, Catharina Elisabeth Graeff in Lancaster County in 1742. ìGeorge Schwab, Sr., son of Jost (he usually used the name George instead of his full name Hans Jorg or Johann Georg) died in Paradise Township, York County in 1756. Administration Bonds were issued to the administrators of his estate, his vife, Eva, and son, George, blacksmith. Michael Swoope, son of George Schwab, Sr's cousin Johann Georg (or George) Schwab, was the bonds man. The estate of George Swoope (as his name is spelled in the Administration Acoount dated 29 November 1758, showed a balance of pound 245.12.7. In the Orphans Court Dockets, vol. A, Page 193, the personal estate of George Swoope of Paradise Township was distributed among his widow, Anna Eve, and his issue or representatives thereof: George Anna Barbara, wife of Michael Ranck: Eva Elisabeth, widow of Peter Yeager; Anna Eva, deceased widow (this meant that both she and her husband were dead) of Paul Burget (Paul Burckhardt); Jost, deceased; and Anna Marelis, wife of Peter Huber. The date of this Orphans Court record was the 28th of August 1761. In York County will Book B, page 105 is the will of Ann Eve Sweven (could this be a mistranslation of the German female ending ,,Swobin"?) of Paradise Township, York County, dated August 1764 and probated April 3, 1767 in where she names her son, George Swope, and 6(?) daughters....The records of baptism of three of the children named above and two other children have been located in the Lutheran parish register in Leimen, Baden, Germany (See page 1303). The marriage of Georg Schwab and Anna Eva and the births of the other children are probably recorded in another parish near Heidelberg which our researcher has not yet located.î.139, page 1298 |

The Children individually:
**(G.E. Swope is clear that Yost came with 5
children).
G.E. Swope wrote of Hans Jorg in 1898. His
words: ìHans Jorg Swab arrived in Philadelphia Swet 21 1727 (Col.
Rec., Vol. 3, page 597). This is supposed to be the George Swope who settled
in the neighborhood of York. He was one of the organizers of Old Christís
Lutheran church at York, 1733. George Swope was ëone of his majestyís Justices
of the Peace for the County of Lancaster, Aug. 29, 1746í. He was reappointed
April 22, 1749. (Col. Rec., Fol. 5, page 378). Penna Archives 1740
to 1756, page 38, refers to him as ëa principal inhabitant.í George Swope
died 1757; his son George was administrator of his estate. Besides the
son he had daughters-Anna barbara, maried Michael Rancke; Eva Elizabeth,
married Peter Yeager, both of Paradise township, now York county; Anna
Eve, married Paul Burget; Anna M., married Peter Huber. George Swope left
a widow, Anna Eve. Nothing is known of any of the descendants of his children.î140
