Johannes married 1st Anna Dorothea LINE and had 11 children of that Union .
See Link for Union and Progeny of first marriage to Anna Dorothea LINE.More detail on Johannes is available through the link to Johannes' marriage with Anna Dorothea Line and includes Johannes' Baptismal Certificate , His Will, his record of naturalization, and The Letter of Administration of Yost Swope's estate granted to Johannes Swope, the existence of which caused Morse and McLachlan in 1972 to switch BACK Yost's death year from the date on Yost's [reinterment] grave to the date of the letter of administration and excluding the inference of G E Swope that the family bible was referred to for that date as found on the tombstone and original death slab. See also Johannes' father's introductory page Yost Swope , which includes discussion on the Conflicting Data regarding Yost's Birth & Death Dates.]

Children Of Elizabeth GROVE and John SWOPE
Maria Sabina is one of 10 siblings, 5 of whom married into the birth families of our direct lines, while two other of her siblings had children who married grandchildren of our direct lines . The Smyser family is not direct to us, but their role in the social and economic welfare of our direct forebears is distinct, and they hold of place of significant social importance to our direct EICHELBERGERS, HOKES and SWOPES. For this reason I have created a Smyser Line showing the alliances within one generation to our directs where they occur.

John Hoke was son of our direct HOKE/HOCK Ancestors. His brother Andrew is direct in the ascendancy of Lydia SPANGLER who married Adam SWOPE [the saddle tree maker] and with her husband resided in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. John and Andrew's assumed sister Maria Claria "Gloria" married our direct Conrad SWOPE.
Sabina is a matriarch of the pride of the conferderate south, removing there as a widow and with her children. Many of her grandsons served in the civil war, and several of her grandchildrenís families had all boys of age serving. Two of her great grandsons Forney were Brigadier Generals, CSA, a great grandson Robert Frederick Hoke was a Major General for the CSA, and many other of her grandchildren /greatgrandchildren were officers. One family among her descendants (The Daniel Hoke family) lost three of four boys in battle to the cause, the fourth apparantly preserved only because of his tender age at the time of the War ( Daniel is son of Hon. Henry who is Sabinaís son ). Sabina " lived in York county, Pa, until her husbandís death at which time she, together with her children, moved to Lincoln county, North Carolina, (1797 or 1798) where her children established themselves and became prominent members of the community. On the death of her father in 1780, she received from his estate, by will, one hundred and twenty-five pounds. "36Children and some history on John HOKE and Maria Sabina [SWOPE] Hoke's line involved in the CSA:îSabina was a very superior woman, having great strength of character energy and perseverance. She, being left a widow, felt a great responsibility in rearing her children and was extremely particular in her care for them. It is said that ìwhen any of her boys were out late at night she would take a servant, go out and not return until she had found the missing one, whom she would bring home with her. On one occaison she found one of her sons at a card table with a crowd of jolly boys. She walked up to the table pulled the cards off into her lap led her son home and thus broke up the game. ì37
